We offer an exceptional example of 1970s architecture. The successful design and execution were spearheaded by a professor of architecture at the Kiel College of Arts. Following the 1972 Olympics in Kiel-Schilksee, forward-thinking development plans were implemented. As a result, four innovative residential complexes were created, some of which received architectural awards. The house for sale is part of one of these complexes, which our architect parents designed and planned together with two other architect families. Located a short distance from the cliffs and the beach, an ensemble of ten single-family homes was built using a modular system. These homes are arranged in two rows around a park-like green space. Situated between the rows, at a lower level, is a communal building with a sauna and event space. In front of this building is a terrace with a children's playground and a fire pit. A defining characteristic of these flat-roofed buildings is the cohesive color scheme, inspired by the principles of the Bauhaus, as well as the return of design elements while maintaining the individuality of each design. The distinctive and appealing design of the complex sets it apart from the otherwise sophisticated residential developments in the Schilksee-Süd district, offering a unique view of the Kiel Fjord. This cohesive design extends from the exterior to every detail of the interior. Each house has its own garden, located at the rear, providing an additional private space. The steep coastline and beach are just about 200 meters away. Locals even walk there in their bathrobes – and they do so at any time of year. Shops for daily necessities, as well as doctors and pharmacies, are within walking distance. You can reach one of Kiel's best fish sandwich places in the former Olympic harbor by bike or on a longer walk. A little further away is the elegant seaside resort of Strande, where a lighthouse stands at the very end of the fjord. The neighboring town of Friedrichsort is also easily accessible by bike. According to a survey by "Kieler Nachrichten," it has Kiel's best bakery, and in our opinion, the most delicious ice cream. It also has several retail stores, restaurants, and a market every Saturday. If you cycle towards the water instead of into the town, you can reach Falckensteiner Strand, which is now quite popular. It's a large sandy beach with dunes, sandbanks, a lighthouse, a mini-golf course, and various restaurants. Schilksee has a daycare center, a primary school, and various sports clubs. Public transportation is well-developed, with direct bus lines to Kiel. A rather unusual mode of transport is the ferry, which crosses the fjord from Friedrichsort to the city center. The city center is also easily accessible by car via the bridge.
